From Redding, take Interstate 5 north about 30 miles to the Lakeshore Drive / Antlers Road exit at Lakehead (exit 702). Turn south onto Lakeshore Drive and follow it roughly 2 miles. The resort is at 20433 Lakeshore Drive. From the north, take I-5 south to the same exit and turn south onto Lakeshore Drive. Lakeshore Drive is paved two-lane that rolls and curves as it follows the shoreline south, with a steady grade but nothing technical and no low clearances. A 50-foot rig gets in without needing to stage or unhook. Lakeshore Resort is about half a mile north along the same road, so if you arrive at a resort with a restaurant and bar you have stopped one property short. Groceries are on site and also a couple of minutes north in Lakehead. Redding, for supermarkets, hospitals, hardware and RV service, is roughly 30 miles and 35 minutes south.

Shasta Lake RV Resort sits on Lakeshore Drive south of the Lakehead interchange, and its distinguishing feature is simple: it has its own boat launch and private boat docks, plus trailer and boat storage on site. On a lake where most private parks send you to a public ramp, that is the whole argument. You can put the boat in, leave it at a dock, and not touch the tow vehicle again until you go home. The inventory is 50 shaded RV sites with full hookups and 19 tent sites, which the resort publishes on its own pages, and Campendium independently records the total as 69 — the two agree exactly, which is more corroboration than most private parks on this lake can offer. There are rental cabins as well. Campendium puts the rig limit at 50 feet and records elevation at 1,082 feet. The shade is worth dwelling on. The resort describes the RV sites as shaded, and at 1,082 feet in the Shasta foothills that is not a decorative detail — July and August afternoons here run into the high nineties and past 100 degrees F, and canopy over the pad changes the character of a stay more than almost any other amenity. One caution on power. The resort says full hookups but does not state amperage anywhere we can find; Campendium lists 30 amp. We have published 30 amp and left 50 amp unclaimed rather than assume, because for anyone running two air conditioners that is the difference between a comfortable afternoon and a tripped breaker. If you need 50 amp, confirm before you book — Antlers RV Park at the head of the arm is the nearby park that definitely has it. The rest of the amenity set is the full commercial spread: a swimming pool, clean restrooms with hot showers, a laundry room, Wi-Fi, a playground and horseshoe pit, and a grocery store on site carrying food, beer, wine, ice, bait and firewood. Bait and firewood in the same store is a fair summary of what this place is for. Campendium also records a dump station. It is open year round. Note on where it actually is: The Dyrt files this resort under Sugarloaf rather than Lakehead, and it is not wrong. Lakeshore Drive runs south from the Lakehead interchange along the arm toward Sugarloaf, and at roughly two miles down that road the resort sits between the two communities. The postal address says Lakehead; the neighbourhood says somewhere in between.

This is the quieter end of the Lakehead cluster. Two miles down Lakeshore Drive puts real distance between you and Interstate 5, and the freeway noise that defines the campgrounds up by the interchange fades here. What replaces it is boat traffic on the main channel of the Sacramento Arm, which in July is its own kind of busy. The resort is built for people who bring a boat and stay a while. Launch, docks, boat storage, trailer storage, a grocery store with bait, and a year-round season add up to a park organised around repeat visitors rather than one-night stopovers. If you are passing through on I-5 and want a pad for the night, the parks up at the interchange are a shorter detour; this one earns its keep over several days. Seasonally, the Sacramento Arm empties out after Labor Day and the whole character changes. Water temperature drops through the autumn, trout fishing improves, and lake level draws down through the irrigation season — which matters more here than at a park with no water access, because the drawdown moves the usable end of every ramp and lengthens the walk from a dock to open water. By late autumn, launching anywhere on Shasta is a different exercise from launching in June. Winters at roughly 1,080 feet are mild and wet, with snow uncommon, though the I-5 grade north toward Dunsmuir chains up several times a season. The resort stays open through all of it, which makes it one of a small handful of year-round full-hookup options on the lake itself rather than out on the Redding gateway. Nearby, Lakeshore Resort is half a mile north with a restaurant and a lakefront setting but no dock. Antlers RV Park is at the head of the arm with a full working marina and a 75-foot rig limit. Lakehead Campground and RV Park is up by the freeway, 30 amp only, and walkable to the public ramp. The Forest Service campgrounds — Antlers, Lakeshore East, Nelson Point, Gregory Creek Group — are cheaper, dry, and book out months ahead on summer weekends through Recreation.gov. On fire: most lakeside resorts on Shasta operate on National Forest land under Forest Service special-use permits, and where that holds, Shasta-Trinity Forest Orders apply inside the property exactly as at the agency campgrounds. We have not found a document establishing the land status for this resort either way. Sites have fire rings, but in a restricted year that does not settle whether you may use them — ask at check-in.
