About CampSiteHQ
Conditions at Shasta Lake change every day. The lake rises and falls, ramps open and close with it, and fire orders and road work come and go. Most camping guides are written once and left alone. CampSiteHQ was built so the information you plan with is as current as the lake itself.

What updates, and how often
Each feed follows its own schedule. The table below uses the same schedule as the automatic health check, so the public promise and the monitoring rules stay together.

| Wildfire incidents | CAL FIRE | Every 30 minutes |
| Forecasts for every campground | National Weather Service | Hourly |
| Lake levels | California Data Exchange Center | Hourly |
| Boat-ramp status | Lake level, official ramp ranges and agency closure orders | Hourly |
| Road work & closures | Caltrans | Every 30 minutes |
| Forest Service and Park Service orders, closures & fire restrictions | USDA Forest Service and National Park Service | Every 6 hours |
| Traffic cameras | Caltrans | Weekly |
| Campground facts | The official source linked with each fact | Reviewed by editors |
Boat-ramp status is recalculated hourly from the lake level, each ramp's official usable range and any agency closure order. Campground facts such as rig limits, hookups, site counts and seasons are reviewed by editors and linked to their sources.
How we keep it honest
Every reading shows the time its own source published it, not the time we fetched it. If a source goes quiet, the last reading becomes visibly stale instead of being restamped or guessed. An automatic watchdog checks the schedule and rechecks a feed when it misses an expected update. Official closure orders override a lake-level calculation.
We do not invent ratings, prices or availability. Every reading credits its source, and unknown details say “Not published.” Listings cannot be bought and advertisers cannot change campground facts or result order. Our advertising and affiliate policy explains that separation.
Get alerts
CampSiteHQ offers free email alerts for the campgrounds you choose. The alert inbox also brings active weather warnings, wildfire incidents, agency orders, fire restrictions and current lake readings into one place.
Where we cover
Our directory covers the Shasta Lake corridor from Redding to Lakehead, plus Whiskeytown. Browse the full campground directory, or check lake levels and ramp conditions before you travel.
