What is the purpose of this REI Co-op Base Camp 6 Tent?
This tent appears entirely distinct without the fly than it does with the fly. The image below shows a very simple dome, but pay attention to the extra poles that create at least seven traverse points. So, while this is a simple and symmetric dome with a square base, it is also solid.
The inner tent is entirely self-contained. You, on the other hand, have a full-coverage fly that produces two asymmetric entrances. The entrances must be established functionally. As a result, this is a moderate tent. It is now on my list of tents with a full-coverage fly. This is a very tall dome tent with a peak height of 74 inches (188 cm).
The vestibules and doors
The two entrances I mentioned are entirely distinct. The larger one can be seen in the top image above. As you can see, it has an additional support pole for itself. The back side has a D-shaped door and a significantly smaller vestibule, as shown in the picture.
The inner doors have mesh in the upper sections and panels, as shown in the image above. Because they are deep under the fly and completely protected, you can maintain them just by using mesh all the time.
Storage options
This tent has staggering preservation pockets above the floor and higher up on the canopy. The image below depicts how a few of them appear. Those near the floor can be found on all four sides of the tent.
The image below demonstrates some pockets entirely above the head, where you can store the doors when they are unzipped. You can also attach a lantern to the top point:
Ventilation
The tent’s interior has mesh on the roof, as seen in the picture without the rain fly above. The two doors have mesh sections that can be closed.
They have, however, added a pair of triangular closable mesh parts near the floor. You have inner zippered sections that control the amount of air circulation, and you can close them if you get cold. You can see how one of them appears from the inside and outside.
Additionally, there are two fly vents with Velcro tabs and stiffeners. They are matched with zippers on the interior canopy, allowing you to open them from the inside. One of the zippers can be seen on the left in the image above. So, everything is done correctly, and no one can object to this design.
Materials
The poles
There are four aluminum poles for the inner dome and one for the vestibule. Everything has been color-coded for a simple setup. It’s worth noting that the poles have long sleeves, which helps to distribute pressure in high winds. The standard grommets are located at the tent’s base.
The fabric
The fly is polyester-resistant to stretching and UV rays; however, the denier value and water-resistant evaluation are not provided. The rating is 1500 mm, which is not much but is sufficient. The floor fabric is a very durable 150D coated polyester Oxford in a bathtub design, which can be seen in the photos as the green part that rises from the ground. The waterproof rating should be consistent.
The zippers on the rainfly and the doors are YKK #8 quality. #5 are those on windows and vent access zippers. A heavy-duty storage sack with a shoulder sling is also included. A complete set of stakes, guylines, tighteners, a pole-repair tube, a pole bag, and a stake bag are included.

Who is it intended for?
In terms of weight, the tent weighs 20 lb 10 oz (9.36 kg), which is quite heavy. The packed size is 24 x 11 inches (61 x 28 cm) (L x D). So you’ll need a vehicle to get around.
In terms of space, the tent is formally designed for 6 people. There is an interior area of 83.7 ft2 (7.78 m2) and two vestibules that add 27 + 17 ft2 (2.5 + 1.6 m2). So, the total protected space per person is 21.3 ft2 (2 m2), which is adequate. However, proper camping is best suited for parents with a maximum of two children.
In terms of seasons and climate, they describe it as a 3-4 season tent, and they are correct. With so many intersection points, the tent’s frame is solid, and the structure is very aerodynamic. So, despite its height, it can withstand a lot of pressure.
You’ve seen that the floor vents can be closed if you get cold, and they can be left open in a warm environment. The same is true for the door panels. This is a versatile design.
The price is steep, so this can be difficult if you are on a tight budget. But there is no doubt that this high-quality tent is well worth the money.
