An overview of the features
Ozark Trail is famous for its massive large family camping tents, particularly 12-person ones, making getting lost simple. This tent may appear rectangular but is a Y-shaped framework, as shown in the (very rough) illustration below. I noticed people asking about it, so I sketched its floor plan.

This is also a three-room structure, with the rooms shown in the image above. The tent has been added to my list of the best three-room tents. Each room has its own door and several windows. The peak height of this cabin-style tent is 76 inches (193 cm), and it has very tall and straight walls.
As you can see, the ground shape is quite fascinating, as evidenced by the images below, both without and with the two dividers.

The images above also demonstrate how you can completely close the windows and doors for security and safety from the elements. You have ten windows that you may complete as you see fit.
The screen room
The front screen room is one of its best features, as shown in the image below. I’ve seen people inquire about its characteristics, so I’d like to emphasize that it is a fully floored area, just like the rest of the tent, with no distinction.

The screen walls here are double-layered, so you have panels plus mesh and complete safeguarding from the elements and insects. The door to the screen room is double-sized and inverted T-shaped, as shown in the image. The other two entries in the other rooms are standard in size but highly tall.
Overall, the screen room is an ordinary space with more features with its huge mesh on three different sizes. It’s on my list of the best tents with screen rooms.
A tent that is set up quickly
This is the most essential feature for people who change camping locations regularly. The official setup time is 2 minutes, and the pictures show the steps for raising the tent from the ground:

Its telescopic poles are pre-attached to the tent, resulting in a simple set-up time. As you can see from the images above, you develop the framework before extending its telescopic leg poles. Due to its attractive design, this Ozark Trail 12-person tent has been added to my list of the best 12-person instant camping tents.
This additionally demonstrates that this is an entirely self-contained tent. This is maintained even when on-the-fly is included. The image below shows the tent without the fly to give you an idea of its pole Structure.

The tent can still be rotated and moved short distances even after adding the minimal fly and clipping it to the leg poles. It comes with six guyline points for securing it to the ground if essential. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
The photos below show how pleasant the interior is, an ample space with windows all around and a proper camp castle.

Who is it intended for?
In terms of size, this is a large tent, but the declared capacity is no less than 12 people. The tent’s dimensions are now 20 x 18 ft (610 x 549 cm), but this is only for the ground’s surface. You can see the actual surface area above, so the floor size here is around 56 ft2 (5.2 m2) per room (according to the manufacturer’s statement).
So, you have a total area of about 168 ft2 (15.6 m2), which equates to 14 ft2 (1.3 m2) per person. This is far from sufficient, so the declared capacity is meaningless. This tent can accommodate parents and up to four children for family camping. It’s also ideal for two couples because the two separate rooms provide privacy, and the screen room can be used as a living room.
They claim you can fit three queen airbeds, which is correct but impractical. Put two in the back rooms and use the screen room for storage and seating.
In terms of seasons and climate, this is a summer camping tent for areas accessible to rain and strong winds. The water-resistant rating is minimal, the fly covers the ceiling, the tent is very tall and thus a considerable wind barrier, and it would not last long in a very windy location.
On the other hand, the ceiling is entirely meshed (see image below), so you would not feel comfortable in a cold environment, but it is ideal for warm-weather camping.
In terms of weight and packed size, this is a heavy tent at 45 lb (20.4 kg), but consider the area it provides, and the packed size of 50 x 12 x 12 inches (127 x 30 x 30 cm) necessitates car use.
Regarding materials and construction
The fabric
The tent and rain fly are polyester and have a waterproof rating of 600 mm. They don’t say anything about the floor’s material, but it appears different. The seams are completely taped.
The poles and stakes
Because this is an all-steel building, the weight mentioned above should be no surprise. I’ve seen their claim that all of the poles are replaceable. You also get 17 steel stakes in the package, so make good use of them and stake the tent properly.
Ventilation
Ventilation is not an issue in this tent because it has a mesh ceiling (see image below). However, if it rains, you must keep panels on the doors and windows. So they added vents, and you have three of them, one in each room.
They are tiny, but this is enough. People have asked if any of those vents can be used to install an air conditioner, and the answer is no.
Other characteristics
- The walls have six small gear pockets. It’s a shame they didn’t add much more in such an ample space.
- The tent includes an E-cable port, as shown in the image below.
